In response to the crackdown, Bengali nationalists formed the Mukti Bahini.

The Mukti Bahini was supported by India, which provided them with weapons and training.

Ashuganj or Ashugonj is a town in the Brahmanbaria District of Chittagong Division of Bangladesh.
Its in the Meghna River delta.
Its altitude is 10 meters.
The city is known for the Port of Ashuganj and for its power plant which generates much of the electricity for the country, especially for the capital city.
