 Methodology for Accuracy

  • Use a representative sample size that accurately reflects the population.

  • Conduct surveys randomly and in a stratified manner to include diverse demographics (age, gender, region).

  • Ensure the survey is conducted face-to-face in the respondent's preferred language for better understanding.

  • Weight responses based on demographic representation to avoid bias in results

Signs of a Well-Done Survey

  • Clear disclosure of sample size, method of survey, and error margins.

  • Random and stratified sampling methods to ensure diverse representation.

  • Transparency about how undecided responses are handled and how data is weighted.

  • Consistency in predictions with actual election outcomes.

Timing of Exit Polls

  • Exit polls are conducted immediately after voters have cast their ballots, often outside polling booths

  • Some may be conducted as post-poll surveys at voters' homes, shortly after they vote.

Respondents’ Openness

  • Many respondents may not fully disclose their voting choices, especially marginalized voters.

  • Trust in the surveyor plays a crucial role in whether respondents feel comfortable sharing their preferences.

  • Surveyors may need to employ methods that allow respondents to express their choices confidentially to improve accuracy.
