A wing of Kerala Sasthra Sahitya Parishad, Campaign Against Pseudo Science Using Law and Ethics (CAPSULE) Kerala, has filed complaints with the FSSAI against three nutraceutical products.
The products are Algamin Tension-Ease, Algamin Diabet-Ease, and GreenRex.
The complaint alleges misleading claims and potential violations of several laws and regulations.
Algamin Tension-Ease: Claims to boost heart health, manage hypertension, control cholesterol, and relieve anxiety and stress.
Algamin Diabet-Ease: Claims to improve digestive health, lower blood sugar levels, and maximize insulin utilization.
GreenRex: Claims to treat non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.
Concerns Regarding the Products:
Lack of Human Trials: The products have not undergone human trials, raising concerns about their safety and efficacy.
Violation of Regulations: The marketing claims and sales of these products potentially violate multiple laws and regulations.
Nutraceuticals are products derived from food sources with additional health benefits besides basic nutritional value.
They can be used to prevent or treat diseases, improve health, or delay aging
Nutraceuticals can include: Vitamins, Minerals, Pure compounds, Herbal products, and Soluble and insoluble fibers
