Four days after Chief Minister N. Biren Singh resigned, President’s Rule was imposed in Manipur due to ethnic violence that has affected the state for two years.
President Droupadi Murmu issued the proclamation under Article 356 of the Indian Constitution, stating that the state govt. could no longer function according to constitutional provisions.
