Two U.S. lawmakers want information on a supposed $21 million U.S. program for "voter turnout" in India.
This program was reportedly canceled by the "Department for Government Efficiency" (DOGE), led by Elon Musk.
President Trump publicly criticized the program, claiming it was wasteful and used to influence elections.
His claims caused political uproar in India.
The lawmakers are worried Trump's statements have damaged the U.S.-India relationship and created distrust toward USAID's other positive activities in India.
They've asked the Secretary of State for details about the program and its cancellation.
They have asked for a response by March 21, 2025.
They previously asked three times in February for this information.
