The National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL), a CSIR body, has signed its first technology transfer agreement with a private company.
The agreement is for manufacturing trainer airplanes in India using fully indigenously designed and developed technology.
The aircraft is the HANSA-3 NG, a two-seater and the latest version of HANSA planes produced since 1998.
Fourteen HANSA planes have been made so far, used by the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Indian Institutes of Technology.
The private company, Pioneer Clean AMPS Pvt Limited, will handle manufacturing, marketing, servicing, and after-sales support.
NAL will support the company in the initial years with manufacturing and operational guidance.
The HANSA-NG features include a Rotax Digital Control Engine, lightweight composite airframe, glass cockpit, panoramic bubble canopy, and electric flaps.
