Tahawwur Rana, accused in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks conspiracy, was extradited from the U.S. to India and arrested by the NIA.
He is a close associate of David Headley aka Daood Gilani, the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operative who carried out reconnaissance for the attacks.
Rana allegedly helped Headley with logistics, including setting up a front office and securing a visa.
He was produced in a Delhi court; the NIA has requested 20-day custody.
The NIA filed a case against Rana and Headley on November 11, 2009, for conspiracy involving LeT and Harkat-Ul Jihad-al-Islami (HUJI).
His extradition followed years of legal and diplomatic efforts, starting in 2019.
The case has triggered a political debate between BJP and Congress over credit for the extradition.
