Chinese President Xi Jinping urged the European Union (EU) to work with China to resist "unilateral bullying", referring to U.S. tariffs under President Donald Trump.
Xi emphasized the importance of China-EU cooperation during a meeting with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez.
He said this cooperation would help protect their rights and also uphold global fairness and justice.
Mr. Sanchez agreed that trade tensions should not stop EU-China collaboration.
Spain buys €45 billion in goods from China but sells only €7.4 billion, showing a trade gap.
In his previous visit to China, Sanchez urged the EU to rethink high tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles, calling instead for fair trade.
