A 21-day-long anti-Naxal operation was conducted from April 21 to May 11 around Karegutta Hill on the Chhattisgarh-Telangana border.
The terrain was difficult, hilly, and stretched about 60 km in length and 5–20 km in width.
The main goal was to dislocate top Maoist leaders who had gathered in the area.
Officials said the mission achieved its objective of breaking up the Maoist leadership cluster.
The operation involved heavy force mobilisation and resulted in 21 encounters.
At least 31 uniformed Maoists, including 16 women, were killed during the operation.
Preliminary findings identified the deceased as members of CPI(Maoist), including battalions and committees from Telangana and Dandakaranya.
Chhattisgarh Police called it the largest and most coordinated anti-Maoist operation in the state so far.
CRPF chief described it as the “beginning of the end” for Naxals.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah praised the operation, calling it a “historic breakthrough” toward a Naxal-free India.
