The ban applies to all goods, regardless of whether they were previously permitted.
The ban was imposed citing national security and public policy concerns.
India also suspended all postal exchanges, including mail and parcels, from Pakistan by air and surface.
Ships flying the Pakistani flag are barred from docking at Indian ports.
Indian ships are also prohibited from visiting Pakistani ports; exemptions may be granted on a case-by-case basis.
These actions coincided with Pakistan’s test-firing of a nuclear-capable missile, Abdali, which India called a “grave provocation.”
India had already tightened its visa policy towards Pakistan following the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam.
Fourteen categories of visas for Pakistani nationals, including business, medical, and tourist visas, were cancelled.
Only Long Term Visas (LTVs), diplomatic, and official visas remain valid.
