The reorganisation follows the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22.
Prime Minister Modi chaired a Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) meeting after the attack.
In the meeting, the PM gave the armed forces complete freedom to choose how and when to respond.
The reconstitution is a routine process after members complete their term.
The board always retains some existing members to maintain continuity.
National Security Advisory Board (NSAB)
NSAB’s role is to analyse national security issues and provide advice to the National Security Council.
The board was originally set up in 1998 as a body of independent experts.
It includes members from various fields such as industry, media, and civil society.
The NSAB is supported by the National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS).
