The World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan, focuses on the theme “Designing Future Society for Our Lives.”
It is a global event held every five years, promoting innovation and international collaboration to solve global challenges, including the SDGs.
India is showcasing its soft power and cultural richness, rather than technological or industrial might.
The Indian Pavilion is curated by the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA).
It offers an “immersive civilisational experience” rooted in India’s identity of compassion and wisdom.
The design pays tribute to ‘Bodhisattva Padmapani’ from the Ajanta Caves, symbolising compassion, enlightenment, and knowledge.
IGNCA describes itself as a modern-day sutradhar (narrator) connecting ancient philosophies with modern aspirations.
The pavilion aligns with the Expo’s “Connecting Lives” theme, reflecting India’s values of inclusivity, sustainability, and progress.
It also features India’s advancements in space exploration, bridging heritage with future ambitions.
