NISAR (NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar) satellite, jointly developed by NASA and ISRO, was successfully launched on July 30, 2025.
The launch was carried out from Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh, using the GSLV-F16 rocket.
This is the first time a GSLV rocket has placed a satellite into a sun-synchronous polar orbit, demonstrating GSLV's operational versatility.
It is an earth observation satellite.
This is the world's first satellite to use a dual-frequency Synthetic Aperture Radar – NASA's L-band and ISRO's S-band.
It will be used for various purposes, including disaster response, agricultural monitoring, and studying changes on the Earth's surface.
