The Drugs Controller General (India) - DCGI has mandated digital monitoring to oversee the supply chain of high-risk solvents used in pharmaceuticals.
This action follows the death of 20 children in Madhya Pradesh due to the contamination of cough syrups with the toxic substance Diethylene Glycol (DEG).
This monitoring will be implemented through a single-window portal called the Online National Drugs Licensing System (ONDLS).
The new order mandates that all manufacturers producing pharma-grade solvents must obtain a license or register on the ONDLS portal.
