It flows through Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary and descends to the plains near Siliguri.
It touches Jalpaiguri district.
It joins the Ganges at Godagiri in Nawabganj district in Bangladesh.

Stolen idols from chola temples found
The Idol Wing CID of the Tamil Nadu Police, with assistance from U.S. authorities, has recovered 16 high-value antique idols stolen from Chola-era temples in Tamil Nadu.
The idols were traced to museums and art galleries in the United States.
The IW CID is working with U.S. authorities, including Homeland Security and the Manhattan District Attorney's office, to return the idols to India and the respective temples.
The stolen idols were from the Veeratteswarar Swami temple, Nareeswarar temple, and Venugopala Swami and Viswanatha Swami temples.

The missing idols were found in museums and art galleries in the United States, including the Cleveland Museum and Christie's Auction House.
In the 1960s, six Chola-era bronzes were stolen from the Veeracholapuram Sivan temple and were spotted in the U.S.
Three metal idols were stolen from the Venugopala Swamy temple in 2007 and replaced with replicas.
