Global Gender Gap Report
The Global Gender Gap Report is an annual report.
It is published by the World Economic Forum.
It measures the progress of countries in closing the gender gap in four key areas:
Economic participation and opportunity,
Educational attainment,
Health and survival,
Political empowerment.
The report has been published since 2006.

However, progress has been slow and uneven.
In 2022, the global gender gap was 68.1%, meaning that women are still only 68.1% as well-off as men.
India ranked 127 out of 146 countries in the Global Gender Gap Report 2023.
This is an improvement of eight places from the previous year.
India's highest score is in the Political Empowerment sub index, where it ranks 48th.
This is due to the relatively high representation of women in parliament and ministerial positions.

However, India's score in the other three sub indexes is much lower.
In the Economic Participation and Opportunity sub index, India ranks 132nd.
In the Educational Attainment sub index, India ranks 117th.
In the Health and Survival sub index, India ranks 146th.
Gender Inequality
India is a patriarchal society, and gender inequality is a persistent problem.
Women are often denied equal opportunities in education, employment, and public life.
They are also more likely to experience violence and discrimination.
