Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Saturday
wrote to the Union Minister for External Affairs, S.
Jaishankar, seeking his intervention in ensuring the
release of 12 fishermen from the State who have
been detained by the Coast Guard of the Maldives.
He said it was reported that the fishermen were
apprehended by the Coast Guard on October 23 near Thinadhoo Island.
Thinadhoo Island
Thinadhoo City is the capital of Gaafu Dhaalu region.
Its is the proposed capital for the Upper South Province of the Maldives.
It is pronounced as Thenadu in the Southern Maldives dialect.
