Sahitya Akademi Awards UPSC NOTE


  • The Sahitya Akademi Awards are prestigious literary honors bestowed by the Sahitya Akademi, India's National Academy of Letters.

  • Recognizing excellence in Indian writing, these awards are conferred upon writers of outstanding literary works published in any of the 24 major Indian languages recognized by the Akademi, as well as English and Rajasthani.

  • Yuva Puraskar: For young writers (below 35 years) in each language.

  • Bal Sahitya Puraskar: For children's literature in each language.

  • Bhasha Samman: Recognizing significant contributions to languages not formally recognized by the Akademi.
