The Narcotics Control Bureau on Saturday arrested Jaffer Sadiq, accused of being the kingpin in a ₹2,000-crore international drug trafficking racket, in Delhi.
The network he set up allegedly trafficked approximately 3,500 kg of pseudoephedrine to Australia, New Zealand, and Malaysia in the guise of food-grade cargo.
Jaffer Sadiq alias Bezos is a Chennai resident and Tamil film producer, and also held the post of a deputy organiser of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam’s NRI wing for the Chennai District-West.

The Narcotics Control Bureau is the apex Indian agency responsible for combating drug trafficking and illicit drug use in the country.
Basic details about the NBC:
Formation: Established on March 17, 1986
Function: The NCB's primary function is to enforce the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 (NDPS Act) and to fight drug trafficking in India.
Coordination: It functions as the central authority for coordinating and overseeing drug enforcement activities across India.
It also liaises with international drug control agencies and foreign counterparts.
Structure: The NCB has a presence across India. It has 13 zonal offices located in major cities and several sub-zonal offices.
