Why in news
The Indian Army has recently received Sabal-20 logistics drones for deployment in the eastern sector.
In another development, IIT Kanpur has launched a new stealth technology—Anālakshya
Sabal-20
Electric unmanned helicopter with variable pitch technology.
These drones were procured from EndureAir Systems, a company incubated at IIT Kanpur.
Capable of carrying up to 20 kg of payload.
Functions: Designed for long-range deliveries, high-altitude operations, and precision logistics.
It features Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) capabilities, ideal for use in rugged and confined terrains.
Low RPM design minimizes noise and reduces the drone's visibility, making it suitable for sensitive missions.
Anālakshya
The Anālakshya Metamaterial Surface Cloaking System (MSCS) is a new stealth technology developed at IIT Kanpur.
Developed by Professors Anantha Ramakrishna, Kumar Vaibhav Srivastava, and J. Ramkumar, with the help of students and Ph.D. scholars.
The system absorbs waves across a broad spectrum, enhancing protection against Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) imaging.
It is designed to counter missile guidance systems that use radar, providing significant stealth protection.
