The Budget Session of Parliament begins on January 31, 2025, with President Droupadi Murmu’s address to a joint session.
The session is divided into two parts:
Part 1: January 31 to February 13.
Part 2: March 10 to April 4.
The Budget presentation is scheduled for February 1, 2025.
Election Constraints:
The Election Commission has advised the Union Government to avoid Delhi-centric announcements in the Budget due to Assembly polls on February 5.
With upcoming Bihar elections, BJP’s allies like Janata Dal (United) and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) expect critical announcements for the State.
Legislative Agenda:
Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024:
The Joint Committee on the Bill is expected to present its report.
NDA allies are hesitant to push the Bill in Parliament.
Simultaneous Elections Bill:
The Joint Parliamentary Committee will present its report during the session.
However, members have expressed concerns about the short timeline for deliberation on this significant legislation.
