Why in news
Five Air India crew members were detained at Zurich airport for not carrying an authorized Crew Member Certificate (CMC), which is required for flight crew instead of a visa.
A CMC is an identification card issued by the International Civil Aviation Organization for the movement of flight crew.
Zurich airport changed its rules on February 5, no longer allowing crew to pay 10 Euros at the airport to obtain a CMC, making the incident possible.
Zurich airport
Zurich Airport is the largest international airport of Switzerland
It is the principal hub of Swiss International Air Lines.
