The India AI Mission has partnered with Parliament to access its data, which will be used to train an indigenous AI model.
To support this, 14,000 graphics processing units (GPUs) have been made available at a common compute facility.
The mission is also exploring data from Doordarshan and All India Radio as valuable training resources.
The government emphasizes the need for India to develop its own large language models (LLMs), citing concerns about the potential for open-source models to become proprietary.
To achieve this, they are collaborating with industry, professors, and startups.
Building on the model used for 5G technology training in universities, AI-focused education will be expanded through similar laboratory setups.
India aims to develop its own GPU manufacturing capabilities within three to five years, and is evaluating different technical approaches.
India also seeks to strengthen technology collaboration with the U.S., based on trust and respect for intellectual property rights.
