Madhya Pradesh Cabinet approved a new scheme to develop buffer zones in its 9 tiger reserves.
The scheme is called ‘Development of Buffer Zones in Tiger Reserves’, with a budget of ₹145 crore for 2025–26 to 2027–28.
Key activities include:
Chain-link fencing in sensitive areas
Grassland and water source development
Wildlife protection and fire safety
Health monitoring of wild animals
Skill training for local communities
Madhav National Park became the 9th tiger reserve in March 2024; 3 tigers have already been introduced.
The tiger population in buffer zones has risen from 526 to 785 in the last 4 years, showing successful conservation efforts.
