CBI arrested four people in a “digital arrest” fraud case — two from Mumbai and two from Moradabad.
The arrests were part of ‘Operation Chakra V’ after searches at 12 locations.
The case was originally filed in Jhunjhunu and later handed to the CBI by the Rajasthan government.
The victim was tricked by fraudsters pretending to be officials and extorted of ₹7.67 crore over 42 transactions.
Scammers used fake uniforms, legal threats, and video calls to create fear.
CBI seized bank documents, digital devices, and IDs during the raids.
Prime Minister Modi had earlier warned citizens about such “digital arrest” scams.
Victims are falsely told they are arrested online and pressured to pay money.
