Adi Vaani App: A Digital Initiative for Tribal Linguistic Preservation and Empowerment

Mains:

General Studies Paper 1 (Society): Salient features of Indian Society, Diversity of India; Social empowerment.
General Studies Paper 2 (Social Justice/Governance): Welfare schemes for vulnerable sections of the population; Mechanisms, laws, institutions and Bodies constituted for the protection and betterment of these vulnerable sections; e-governance- applications, models, successes, limitations, and potential.

The Ministry of Tribal Affairs launched a new tribal language translation application and website named 'Adi Vaani'.
Main Objectives: Bridge communication gaps among tribal communities, digitally empower tribal youth, and promote linguistic preservation of tribal languages.
This application can translate tribal languages to Hindi and English and vice versa.
In the first phase, six major tribal languages have been included: Gondi, Bhili, Mundari, Santali, Kui, Garo.

The government has described this as a significant step towards inclusive tribal empowerment and linguistic preservation.
