Key Highlights from the News
The Prime Minister will soon inaugurate the Bairabi-Sairang broad-gauge railway line, connecting Mizoram to the national railway network.
This new line, ending at Sairang near the state capital Aizawl, will help connect Mizoram with the rest of the country.
It will significantly reduce travel time, provide affordable travel, and boost economic activities in the region, especially tourism.
This project is part of Indian Railways' ambitious plan to connect all northeastern States by rail by 2030.
Due to the challenging terrain of hills and mountains, the construction of this line is an engineering marvel. It includes 48 tunnels and 55 major bridges.
