Key Highlights from the News
To counter enemy drones and Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), the Indian Army has started procuring the indigenously developed 'Saksham' system.
This is a Counter-Unmanned Aerial System (C-UAS).
The Army developed it in collaboration with the public sector undertaking, Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL).
This command and control system can detect, track, identify, and neutralise drones.
It will help destroy drones through both "soft kill" and "hard kill" methods.
This is a significant step towards India's Aatmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliance) in defence, addressing the drone threat in modern warfare.
