The Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for White Goods (Air Conditioners, LED Lights) has been reopened by the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
This is due to the appetite of the industry to invest more and the initial success of the scheme.
The main objective of this scheme is to promote the domestic manufacturing of components and sub-assemblies for air conditioners and LED lights.
This will help reduce dependence on imports for these products and develop a complete value chain within India.
This is a significant step towards achieving the goals of Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India.
So far, the scheme has attracted an investment of ₹10,406 crore under 83 applicants.
