Lhonak lake
South Lhonak Lake is a glacial-moraine-dammed lake.
Its is located in Sikkim's far northwestern region.
It is one of the fastest expanding lakes in the Sikkim Himalaya region.
It is one of the 14 potentially dangerous lakes susceptible to Glacial lake outburst flood.
South Lhonak lake is situated about 5,200 metres above sea level.
Teesta river
Teesta River is a 414 km long river.
Rises in the Pauhunri Mountain of eastern Himalayas.
It flows through the Indian states of Sikkim and West Bengal and subsequently enters Bangladesh through Rangpur division.
The Lhonak lake brusts into the Teesta river
Most affected districts are Mangan, Gangtok, Pakyong, and Namchi.
Chungthang dam
The 1,200 MW power project on Teesta river.
It is located between Chungthang and Mangan in Mangan district.
The biggest of nine working hydro projects on the river in Sikkim.
This dam collapsed in the glacier bursts.
