Mehul Choksi was arrested in Belgium; he is wanted in India for ₹13,578 crore PNB fraud along with Nirav Modi.
He fled India in 2018 and is now an Antiguan citizen with Belgian residency (granted in Nov 2023).
Arrested near his home in Antwerp; claims to have blood cancer and is medically unfit to travel.
India has officially requested his extradition; Belgian courts will hear the case next week.
Choksi’s lawyer says he won’t get a fair trial in India and will fight extradition.
Interpol had earlier withdrawn its Red Notice against him after his lawyers alleged political targeting and human rights violations.
Nirav Modi remains in UK prison, also fighting extradition.
