The Indian Navy and European Union Naval Force (EUNAVFOR) will soon hold a joint sea exercise.
European ships ESPS Reina Sofia (Spain) and ITS Antonio Marceglia (Italy) will take part, along with Indian Navy ships and aircraft.
The aim is to improve coordination and work together smoothly on missions like fighting piracy and smuggling in the Indian Ocean.
Before the exercise, the European ships visited Mumbai from May 26 to June 1, marking their first visit to India under the EU banner.
This cooperation follows discussions between PM Narendra Modi and EU President Ursula von der Leyen to strengthen peace and security efforts.
Senior naval leaders from both sides held talks in Mumbai on boosting maritime collaboration.
The meeting included harbour interactions and showed mutual interest in more military cooperation.
