Key Highlights from the News
India will participate in a high-level Peace Summit on Gaza in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, to discuss a ceasefire agreement in Gaza.
Egypt and the United States are jointly hosting this summit.
Although Prime Minister Narendra Modi was invited, Minister of State for External Affairs Kirtivardhan Singh is representing India.
The main objective of the summit is to end the Israel-Hamas war and restore stability in the region.
Discussions are also underway regarding the possibility of finding alternative route alignments through Egypt for the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEEC), which is in crisis due to the unnormalized relations between Israel and Saudi Arabia.
This summit highlights India's increasing participation in West Asian issues and its strong India-Egypt Strategic Dialogue.
